In ‘alchemy’, fraen channels her own struggles with heartbreak and the desire for a deeper connection into a poignant and meditative melody. The song’s melancholic vocals and soulful beats combine to create a truly captivating listening experience. As the song progresses, it builds into an upbeat house beat, celebrating the idea of moving on and finding the silver lining in difficult situations. ‘alchemy’ showcases fraen’s ability to capture complex emotions through her lyrics and deliver them with raw honesty. The chorus, “Can’t turn silver into gold, nothing new, everything old,” is a powerful reminder that sometimes, despite our best efforts, we cannot change the past.

The song ‘alchemy’ was inspired by a personal experience of heartbreak and the struggle to let go of a connection that had failed to deepen. “I try to stay true to myself and not always compromise for someone else. I wanted all or nothing,” says fraen. “But even if I rationally understand that I need to cut ties, my heart always takes a bit longer to overcome certain connections. In the end, the song’s beat turns into a house beat, which makes the hook way more upbeat, almost as if I would celebrate the idea of not getting there. Almost as an uplifting and positive ending. Every cloud has a silver lining.”

Produced in collaboration with German-Jamaican producer and soul singer Tender Games, ‘alchemy’ is the last single release before the highly anticipated debut EP ‘every cloud has a silver lining’ (OUT April 21st), co-produced by the duo. With a sound that is both raw and polished, infectious beats and heartfelt lyrics, fraen is sure to capture the hearts of fans of soulful, emotional neo-soul and R&B music.
